Memorization Goals

Although I've not completed this as of yet, I had originally posted this November 15, 2008, on my Scripture Study blog, it is still a valuable goal. I'm also no longer the YW president, but I believe the understandings taught in that program make these items a good memorization tool.

Lately, I have felt impelled to memorize a few things. I have a strong desire to get started on this. Originally, I thought this would be a great 2009 new years resolution, but I feel impressed to get going right away so here is a list of my Memorization Goals.

Young Women Theme As the Young Women President I should know this theme by heart. I finished memorizing this first and really quick... now, I've added the new value, Virtue, too.
The Family: Proclamation To The World. This is so important to understand and know in this day and age where these important gospel principles can be so easily confused. I want them ingrained within my heart.
The Living Christ, The Testimony of the Apostles. As some doubt and question the validity of our Christianity and through my efforts to strengthen my relationship with my Savior, I feel this is only a natural step to memorize the Testimony of our Living Apostles of the Living Christ.
The Wentworth Letter, written by Joseph Smith Jr. Particularly, this part: "The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear; till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done." During these times of uncertainty and the quick hand of those who wish to blame or persecute The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I have always had this part of the Wentworth Letter come to mind. I would like to memorize it.
For The Strength of Youth. Just the information regarding the topics covered in this pamphlet. This is such a terrific resource for the youth and I would like to be able to quote parts of it when called upon.
Scripture Mastery. Although youth spend a year to memorize only 25 scripture mastery's at a time, my goal is to memorize all 100. Along with all the rest of my memorization goals, I may need the extra two months that starting my new years resolution now will afford me.
